NEW YORK - The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian will host an indoor holiday art market Friday through Sunday, Dec. 8- 10, at its Washington, D.C., and New York City locations. The market will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and admission is free. Visitors will be able to purchase works from 35 Native artists, including silver and semiprecious jewelry, ceramics, fine apparel, handwoven baskets, traditional beadwork, dolls dressed in Native regalia and paintings, prints and sculpture. The National Museum of the American Indian holiday art market offers a unique shopping opportunity for visitors to purchase traditional and contemporary works by some of the finest Native artists. Artists were selected through a competitive application process.
In Washington, D.C., the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian is located on the National Mall at Fourth Street and Independence Avenue S.W. In New York City, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian’s George Gustav Heye Center is located at One Bowling Green, across from Battery Park.
