Michael Jackson Death Ruled As Homicide

WASHINGTON - The official report from the medical examiner in Los Angeles concludes the death of pop icon Michael Jackson was a homicide.

The report - released Friday - says the singer died from a lethal combination of drugs that included the powerful anesthetic propofol and the sedative, lorazepam.

It says other drugs also contributed to his death.

The 50-year-old Jackson died June 25 at a Los Angeles hospital UCLA Medical Center as he was preparing to perform in a series of 50 sold-out comeback concerts in London.

Jackson’s personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, has said he gave the pop star propofol and other medications in the hours before he died to help him sleep.

Murray could face involuntary manslaughter charges as a result of the coroner’s report.

Court documents released earlier this week show the coroner’s office concluded that none of the drugs could have killed Jackson if they were administered by themselves, but that the mix of them did.

Dr. Murray says he was treating Jackson for insomnia and has maintained his innocence.

In an Internet video message posted on YouTube last week, Dr. Murray told his friends not to worry about him. He said he told the truth and has faith the truth will prevail.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says it has no record of Dr. Murray ordering, purchasing or obtaining propofol.
